STEMS Charitable Society is a Public Non Governmental Organization with state-wide operations in Kerala, dedicated to School Education, Awareness programs on Environment, Health Care to the downtrodden, Scientific Research, and Entrepreneurship Development. The organization is a 7 member Society lead by President Dr. Varghese Baby, Ph.D. The list of members are as under:
As a charity, we rely for income on membership fees, donations and legacies, and revenue raised from our commercial operations only limited to the Indian Laws pertaining to Societies & Trust Act, and that of Section 12AA of the Income Tax Act.
Since we are directly operating and managing STRCS, our primary target beneficiaries are school students. By way of discounts, we allocate 5% of student populace for free education, 30% of student populace for 15-40% subsidized tuition fees, in addition to providing Free Transportation to 2nd Child and onwards per parent thereby effectively reducing financial burden to our community at large. All records are made public during the Annual Day Function held by the school, reported by the Head Councilor and Promoter of the school – Fr. O. Thomas. Our ambition is to provide school facilities and infrastructure of International Standards that can be accessible by our community at an affordable cost.
Apart from the above, we conduct periodic health care awareness classes and health check-up fairs free of charge, in conjunction with the appropriate village officers and doctors. We have a permanent association with Gandhi Bhavan Old Age Home at Kalayapuram where we contribute cloths and essentials every year to the elderly community.
It has been our utmost priority to preserve and better the environment we live in. STEMS Charitable Society has been contributing in Soil Regeneration, planting of trees, providing Horticulture training to staff, teachers and students of STRCS and spreading awareness of the different advantages of Sustainable Energy such as Solar and Wind. Model exhibits of the same are being encouraged to be made for public display during Exhibition Days celebrated at school. Most importantly, the use of plastics is discouraged, and by 2020, we envisage our school to be 100% Plastic-Free.
Rain Water Harvesting is among several other plans that STEMS wishes to implement by the end of 2020, which can be beneficial for the community around the school with a projected capacity of 20,000 Liters.
Get involved with us for helping those in need. We regularly require volunteers (student and professional) for Free Medical & Dental Check-up Camps, conducting awareness programs for cancer patients, vehicle driving ethics, anti-drug campaigns, conduct Clean-India Campaigns under the Swachch Bharath Mission etc. Register with us at stemscharitable@outlook.com.
You can also contribute and support our initiatives financially through PayPal, or ship essentials to our School Address (STRCS). Interested contributors could also send/hand-over used commodities at STRCS, (except used cloths) that can be beneficial for the downtrodden.
